Kim Petras is a German pop singer and songwriter known for her catchy melodies, vibrant personality, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. Born on August 27, 1992, in Cologne, Germany, Petras gained early attention for her music and for being one of the youngest individuals to undergo gender confirmation surgery, becoming a prominent figure in the transgender community. She began recording music as a teenager and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in pop music. Petras first gained international recognition with the release of singles like "I Don't Want It at All" in 2017, which quickly went viral and showcased her talent for creating infectious pop anthems. Petras’s music blends elements of bubblegum pop, dance, and electronic music. Over the years, she has built a dedicated fan base and released multiple projects, including the "Clarity" mixtape in 2019 and a series of Halloween-themed EPs known as "Turn Off the Light." In 2022, she made history alongside Sam Smith with the hit single "Unholy," which topped charts worldwide and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, making Petras the first openly transgender woman to win in that category.
