In 2023 the sphere known as earth was excited by the news that the alternative rock band, featuring popular actor Keane Reeves on bass, announced their return and reunited for the first time in 20 years. Beginning first with their album ‘Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees,’ Since then, ‘Dogstar’ are back and have released their second awaited LP together, ‘All In Now’ on May 29th. Featuring the trio on the cover, vocalist and guitarist Bret Domrose, drummer Robert Mailhouse and bassist Keanu Reeves have showcased true chemistry by reviving the band and continuing to make flawless music. 12 tracks and 37 minutes of foot tapping and head banging, this entire album is the ideal soundtrack for a 90s coming of age movie or driving through a dark city with your friends. The opening song ‘Math’ is driven by funky guitar solos and carried through by the backing support from the bass and drums. Adding layers and texture ‘Dogstar’ knows how to produce an elevated version of their early 80s alternative rock sound that they are loved and known for to captivate modern ears once more and adding to their fan base. The following track, ‘This Sphere,’ representing the earth, has a melodic bass line, intricate guitar riffs and maracas that wrap around the lyrics that reflect on focusing on the positive in a world of negative. “I’ve got her and she’s got me,” highlighting that if you have your person, everything will be ok and that your enemies become invisible when you are surrounded by love. The punchy title track ‘All In Now’ encourages listeners to put themselves first, do what is best for them, and go all in. The hypnotic baseline from Keanu and impressive performance from Bret displays his vocals as the heavy outro of guitar riffs and drumming from Robert carries out the rest of the song, bringing it to, in classic rock style, a sudden end. The final song ‘Wing’ begins slower, and Bret exposes his deeper tone and vocal capability, gentle drums and guitars slowly build the closing song that captures the dynamics of the album and the musical talents behind the band making this an unforgettable track from an unforgettable album. ‘Dogstar’ will be performing their latest album ‘All In Now’ while touring in the UK in June in Castle Donington at Download Festival, and at theatres in Dublin and London. Then continuing their tour across Europe and then finishing in America.
