Hurry Up Tomorrow

The Weeknd

Review

The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow: A Bold But Exhausting Finale Canadian superstar The Weeknd is back with Hurry Up Tomorrow, the final chapter in a trilogy that began with After Hours and Dawn FM. It’s a proper epic—22 tracks, 84 minutes long—and it doesn’t hold back on the big themes: fame, regret, self-destruction, and a longing for redemption. Musically, it’s everything you’d expect from The Weeknd: glossy synths, moody atmospheres, and that signature falsetto. But there are a few surprises—“São Paulo” dabbles in Brazilian funk, and the title track leans heavily into 80s nostalgia. Production from Oneohtrix Point Never and Mike Dean keeps everything sounding grand and cinematic. That said, it’s not all smooth sailing. At times, the album can feel a bit much—introspective to the point of indulgence. As *The Guardian* put it, it’s both “captivating” and “exhausting.” Still, with guest spots from Lana Del Rey, Travis Scott, and Future, there’s plenty to keep listeners engaged. The closer, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” even throws in a nod to David Lynch’s Eraserhead, adding to the surreal, cinematic vibe. In short, this is The Weeknd in full spectacle mode. It’s ambitious, emotionally charged, and not for the faint-hearted. If you’re in the mood for a deep, immersive listen, you’ll find plenty to love—but don’t expect an easy ride.
