Kacey Musgraves is an American country music singer and songwriter known for blending traditional country with pop and indie influences. She was born on August 21, 1988, in Golden, Texas, and began performing as a teenager, releasing independent albums before breaking through with the 2013 album Same Trailer Different Park. That record featured the hit “Merry Go Round” and earned her the Grammy for Best Country Album, as well as a Best Country Song trophy for the single. Her 2018 album Golden Hour fused country with pop and electronic textures and won multiple Grammys, including Best Country Album and Album of the Year at the 2019 Grammys. Musgraves is celebrated for witty, empathetic lyrics and for addressing social issues with warmth, earning her a prominent place in contemporary country music.
