Yes is an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968. The group was founded by vocalist Jon Anderson and bassist Chris Squire, and soon joined by guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford. They helped pioneer a symphonic, intricate style of rock that featured long suites, complex arrangements, and virtuosic instrumental interplay. Their best-known early work includes the albums Fragile (1971) and Close to the Edge (1972), a period that saw the band evolving with members like Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman. In 1983 they reinvented themselves around guitarist Trevor Rabin, yielding the hit single Owner of a Lonely Heart from the album 90125 and a new wave of mainstream success. Over the years Yes has endured many lineup changes and remains an influential force in rock, continuing to record and tour as one of the genre’s most enduring progressive acts.
