Oasis

Oasis are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). A few months later, Liam asked his older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, vocals) to join as a fifth member, finalizing their formation. Noel became the de facto leader and took over songwriting duties for the band's first four albums. They are considered one of the defining and most globally successful groups of the Britpop genre. Their record-setting debut album "Definitely Maybe" (1994) topped the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time. The following year, they released "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" (1995), which spent ten weeks at number one on the British charts and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. Oasis disbanded in 2009 after Noel Gallagher's sudden departure. As of 2024, they have sold over 75 million records worldwide. After a brief hiatus of about 15 years the Gallagher brothers recently revealed that they had finally buried the hatchet and reformed. They have announced a string of very high profile gigs for 2025.
