André Rieu

André Rieu, born André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu on October 1, 1949, in Maastricht, Netherlands, is a renowned Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer best known for his work with the Johann Strauss Orchestra. Cultivating a deep love for music from an early age, Rieu was influenced by his father, who was a conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. Rieu began studying the violin at the age of five and later attended the Conservatorium Maastricht and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he honed his skills and deepened his appreciation for classical music. After completing his studies, he played with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra. In 1987, Rieu founded the Johann Strauss Orchestra, named after the famous 19th-century Austrian composer Johann Strauss II. The orchestra began with 12 members and has since grown substantially, both in size and popularity, performing in various extravagant spectacles worldwide. Rieu's innovative approach to classical music, blending traditional pieces with contemporary flair, has brought him international fame and made classical music accessible to a global audience.
