Lauren Mayberry is a Scottish musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the electropop band CHVRCHES. She was born on October 7, 1987, in Thornhill, Stirling, Scotland. Mayberry grew up with a passion for music and began playing piano and drums at a young age. She pursued her academic interests by earning a law degree from the University of Strathclyde and a master's degree in journalism. Before rising to fame with CHVRCHES, Mayberry was involved in Glasgow's music scene, performing with local bands such as Boyfriend/Girlfriend and Blue Sky Archives. In 2011, she co-founded CHVRCHES alongside musicians Iain Cook and Martin Doherty.
