Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun on July 16, 1990, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and one of Africa's most influential music exports. He was born and raised in Surulere, Lagos, where he developed an early interest in music. Wizkid began his career at a young age under the stage name Lil Prinz before adopting his now globally recognized moniker. In 2010, Wizkid rose to prominence with the release of "Holla at Your Boy," the lead single from his debut studio album, *Superstar*, which cemented his place as a leading figure in Afrobeats. His blend of Afrobeat, reggae, and R&B influences earned him widespread admiration in Nigeria and beyond. His international breakthrough came in 2016 when he was featured on Drake's chart-topping single "One Dance," which became a global hit and skyrocketed Wizkid into the global music scene. Following the success of the collaboration, Wizkid released his third studio album, *Sounds from the Other Side*, which featured major artists such as Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Ty Dolla Sign. In 2020, Wizkid released his critically acclaimed album *Made in Lagos*, which included the Grammy-nominated single "Essence" featuring Tems. The song became a defining moment in his career, landing on global charts and earning recognition as one of the songs that propelled Afrobeats to new heights on the world stage. Throughout his career, Wizkid has won numerous awards, including a Grammy for his contributions to Beyoncé's *The Lion King: The Gift* album.
