Architects

Architects is a British metalcore band formed in Brighton, England, in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle. The band's sound blends heavy riffs, complex compositions, and emotional lyrics, evolving from early chaotic metalcore to a more polished and melodic style over time. Their early albums, including **Nightmares** (2006) and **Ruin** (2007), helped them gain recognition in the underground metal scene. With the release of **Hollow Crown** in 2009, Architects started gaining international attention, incorporating a more structured and melodic approach. The band's lineup stabilized with Sam Carter as the lead vocalist, Dan Searle on drums, Alex Dean on bass, and Adam Christianson on guitar. The 2010s saw Architects refine their sound with albums like **Daybreaker** (2012) and **Lost Forever // Lost Together** (2014), which earned them critical acclaim. However, the band's trajectory was significantly impacted by the passing of founding guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle in 2016 after a battle with cancer. Despite this, Architects pressed on, releasing **Holy Hell** in 2018 as a cathartic tribute to Tom. Their 2021 album **For Those That Wish to Exist** marked a shift towards a more expansive and cinematic sound, incorporating orchestral elements and electronic influences. The album topped the UK charts, cementing their position as one of the leading bands in modern metalcore. Architects continue to evolve, blending aggression with melody while tackling themes of grief, resilience, and social issues. Their influence in the heavy music scene remains strong, making them one of the most respected and innovative bands in contemporary metal.
