Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol is a rock band from Northern Ireland and Scotland, formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. Originally named Polar Bear, they changed their name to Snow Patrol in 1997. The band was founded by Gary Lightbody on vocals and guitar, Mark McClelland on bass, and Michael Morrison on drums, though the lineup has changed over the years. Their early albums *Songs for Polarbears* (1998) and *When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up* (2001) were released under the independent label Jeepster and gained a small following. However, they achieved mainstream success after signing with Polydor and releasing *Final Straw* in 2003, which featured the hit single *Run*. Their next album *Eyes Open* (2006) solidified their success, especially with the song *Chasing Cars*, which became one of their most iconic tracks. Snow Patrol continued their success with subsequent albums including *A Hundred Million Suns* (2008), *Fallen Empires* (2011), and *Wildness* (2018). Known for their anthemic rock sound and emotional lyrics, the band has sold millions of records worldwide and received numerous awards and nominations. Despite lineup changes and occasional hiatuses, Snow Patrol remains an influential force in alternative rock music.
