The Horrors

The Horrors

The Horrors are an English rock band formed in Southend-on-Sea in 2005. The original lineup features Faris Badwan on vocals, Joshua Hayward on guitar, Tom Cowan on keyboards and synthesizers, Rhys Webb on bass, and Joe Spurgeon on drums. Known for their distinctive fusion of garage rock, post-punk, shoegaze, and electronic music, The Horrors have consistently evolved their sound over the years. Their debut album, *Strange House*, was released in 2007 and showcased a gritty, gothic garage rock style. However, it was their second album, *Primary Colours* (2009), that marked a dramatic shift towards a more expansive and experimental sound, earning critical acclaim and a Mercury Prize nomination. This transformation continued with *Skying* (2011), which incorporated elements of psychedelia and dream pop, leading to their highest commercial success. Subsequent albums like *Luminous* (2014) and *V* (2017) further cemented The Horrors’ reputation for musical innovation and reinvention. Throughout their career, the band has been praised for their artistic risk-taking, combining stylish visuals with an ever-shifting musical identity. The Horrors remain an influential force in modern British alternative music.
