She was born on April 28, 1995, in Astoria, Queens, New York, and later moved to Baldwin, New York, on Long Island. From an early age, she showed a strong interest in music and the arts, teaching herself to play guitar and writing original songs during her childhood. Martinez first gained national attention in 2012 as a contestant on the third season of the television singing competition *The Voice*.
