Magdalena Bay
Magdalena Bay is an American synth-pop duo consisting of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin. The two musicians met in high school in Miami, Florida, where they initially collaborated in a progressive rock project called Tabula Rasa. After the band's breakup and during their time in college, Tenenbaum and Lewin formed Magdalena Bay in 2016 with the aim of creating more accessible, pop-oriented music. Drawing influence from 1980s pop, electronic music, and internet-era aesthetics, Magdalena Bay quickly gained attention for their unique combination of dreamy synths, catchy melodies, and surreal visuals. They began releasing a series of singles and EPs, including their 2020 compilation *A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling*, which helped establish their presence in the indie and online music scenes. Their debut studio album, *Mercurial World*, was released in 2021 to critical acclaim, praised for its polished production, conceptual ambition, and inventive songwriting. Known for their engaging multimedia presence and DIY approach to music and video production, Magdalena Bay has continued to build a devoted fanbase and is recognized as one of the most creative voices in contemporary pop.
