Lucy Dacus is an American singer-songwriter and musician known for her introspective lyrics, emotive voice, and genre-blending sound that draws from indie rock, folk, and alternative influences. She was born on May 2, 1995, in Mechanicsville, Virginia, and grew up in a creative environment that nurtured her passion for writing and music. Dacus gained national attention in 2016 with her debut album, *No Burden*, which was recorded in a single day and led to a contract with Matador Records. The album was praised for its lyrical depth and mature sound, earning her a strong following and critical acclaim. Her follow-up album, *Historian*, was released in 2018 and further showcased her ability to weave personal and political themes into expansive and emotionally powerful songs. In addition to her solo work, Dacus is a member of the acclaimed indie supergroup Boygenius, alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.
