Lil Durk

Lil Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks on October 19, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He emerged from Chicago's South Side and is widely recognized as a leading figure in the drill music scene. Raised in a challenging environment, Durk faced numerous hardships, including the incarceration of his father when he was just a child. He began taking music seriously in his late teens, using it as a means of expression and a way out of his circumstances. Durk gained early attention with his mixtapes, particularly the "Signed to the Streets" series, which showcased his blend of street realism and melodic rap. In 2011, he founded his own record label, Only the Family (OTF), helping to launch the careers of several other Chicago artists. He signed with Def Jam Recordings in the early 2010s but later moved to Alamo Records, where he expanded his mainstream appeal. Over the years, Lil Durk has collaborated with major artists such as Drake, Lil Baby, and King Von, the latter being a close friend and OTF signee whose tragic death deeply affected him. Known for emotionally raw lyrics and a persistent work ethic, Durk has released several successful albums, including "The Voice" and "7220," both of which received critical and commercial acclaim. Beyond music, Lil Durk has become a cultural figure, advocating against street violence while continuing to reflect the realities of his upbringing through his art. His resilience and authenticity have cemented his place as one of the most influential voices in modern hip-hop.
