La Roux

La Roux is the stage name of English singer, songwriter, and record producer Elly Jackson. Born on March 12, 1988, in London, England, she gained prominence in the late 2000s with her distinctive synth-pop sound, heavily influenced by 1980s electronic music and new wave. La Roux originally began as a duo consisting of Elly Jackson and producer Ben Langmaid. The pair rose to fame with their self-titled debut album, *La Roux*, released in 2009. The album spawned hit singles such as "Bulletproof," "In for the Kill," and "Quicksand," and received critical acclaim for its sharp production and Jackson's unique vocal style. "Bulletproof" became an international hit, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States. Following the success of their debut, Jackson and Langmaid eventually parted ways due to creative differences. Jackson continued La Roux as a solo project and released her second album, *Trouble in Paradise*, in 2014. The album marked a stylistic evolution, incorporating funk and disco elements and showcasing more personal themes. After a period of relative quiet, La Roux returned in 2020 with her third album, *Supervision*, which continued her exploration of retro-inspired pop music with a modern twist. La Roux is known for her androgynous style, vibrant red hair, and commitment to creative independence. Over the years, she has influenced a generation of pop artists and remains an enduring figure in electronic and synth-pop music.
