Korn

Korn is an American nu metal band formed in Bakersfield, California, in 1993. The band was originally founded by James "Munky" Shaffer (guitar), Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu (bass), Brian "Head" Welch (guitar), David Silveria (drums), and Jonathan Davis (vocals), who joined shortly after the other members had started jamming together under the name L.A.P.D. Korn is widely recognized as a pioneering force in the nu metal genre, blending heavy metal with elements of hip-hop, funk, and alternative rock. Their raw, emotional sound and aggressive style set them apart in the early 1990s music scene. The band's self-titled debut album, released in 1994, introduced their signature down-tuned guitars, haunting lyrics, and Davis's unique vocal delivery. It laid the groundwork for a new movement in heavy music and gained a cult following. Their 1998 album *Follow the Leader* was a breakthrough success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and featuring hits like "Freak on a Leash" and "Got the Life." Korn continued to find success with albums such as *Issues* (1999), *Untouchables* (2002), and *Take a Look in the Mirror* (2003), selling millions of records worldwide. Over the years, Korn has undergone lineup changes, with David Silveria leaving in 2006 and Brian Welch departing in 2005 before returning in 2013. Ray Luzier joined as the full-time drummer in 2009. Despite these changes, the band has maintained a consistent sound and strong fan base, continually evolving their music while staying true to their roots. Korn is credited with helping to bring nu metal to mainstream attention and influencing a generation of bands. With numerous Grammy Awards and multi-platinum albums, they remain one of the most prominent and enduring acts in heavy music.
