Grimes
Grimes, born Claire Elise Boucher on March 17, 1988, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Known for her unique blend of electronic, pop, R&B, and experimental music, she has become one of the most influential and distinctive voices in contemporary art-pop. Grimes began her music career in the late 2000s while attending McGill University in Montreal, where she developed her sound and began performing at underground venues. She released her debut album, *Geidi Primes*, in 2010, followed by *Halfaxa* the same year. Both albums garnered attention in the indie music scene for their ethereal soundscapes and genre-defying style. Her breakthrough came with the release of her third studio album, *Visions*, in 2012. The album was critically acclaimed and featured the hit single "Oblivion," which earned widespread praise for its innovative production and lyrics. She followed up with *Art Angels* in 2015, which further established her as a pop innovator and received acclaim for its bold, eclectic sound. In 2020, Grimes released *Miss Anthropocene*, a concept album revolving around themes of climate change and the anthropomorphic embodiment of destruction. Her music often explores futuristic and dystopian themes, with heavy influences from science fiction and digital culture. Beyond music, Grimes is also known for her visual artistry, involvement in fashion, and outspoken views on technology and AI. She has collaborated with various artists and designers, further cementing her status as a multi-disciplinary creative force. Grimes gained additional public attention for her relationship with tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, with whom she has children. Despite the media focus on her personal life, she continues to be regarded for her innovative contributions to music and culture.
