Kelis is an American singer, songwriter, and chef known for her eclectic musical style and distinctive voice. She was born Kelis Rogers on August 21, 1979, in Harlem, New York City. Raised in a musical household—her father was a jazz musician and her mother a fashion designer—Kelis showed a passion for the arts from a young age. She rose to fame in 1999 with her debut album "Kaleidoscope," produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes. The album gained international attention, particularly with the single "Caught Out There," known for its bold lyrics and innovative production. Kelis continued to experiment with genre and sound throughout her career, blending elements of R&B, hip hop, soul, electronic, and pop across her albums such as "Wanderland," "Tasty," "Kelis Was Here," and "Flesh Tone." Her 2003 hit "Milkshake" became a global sensation and remains one of her most iconic tracks. In 2010, her album "Flesh Tone" marked a departure from her earlier sound, showcasing a more electronic and dance-oriented style. In addition to her music career, Kelis is also a classically trained chef. She studied at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and has since launched her own line of sauces, written a cookbook, and hosted a cooking show. Her culinary passion often intertwines with her music, creating a unique personal brand. Kelis has consistently reinvented herself over the years, remaining a creative force in both music and food.
