Smith/Kotzen
Smith/Kotzen is a musical collaboration between guitarists Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen, blending elements of hard rock, blues, and classic rock. The duo officially formed in 2020 and released their self-titled debut album, "Smith/Kotzen," in March 2021. The album received critical acclaim for its seamless fusion of Smith's heavy metal background with Kotzen's soulful blues-rock style. Adrian Smith is best known as a longtime guitarist for the legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, while Richie Kotzen has an extensive career as a solo artist and as a former member of bands like Poison and The Winery Dogs. Their partnership emerged out of mutual respect and a shared love for guitar-driven music. "Smith/Kotzen" was recorded in the Turks and Caicos Islands and features both musicians sharing vocal duties, guitar solos, and songwriting. The album showcases their musical chemistry and versatility, with standout tracks like “Taking My Chances” and “Running.” Following the success of their debut, they released an EP titled "Better Days" in late 2021, further solidifying their collaborative potential. Smith/Kotzen represents a natural and exciting convergence of two seasoned musicians exploring new creative territory together.
