Volbeat
Volbeat is a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001. The group was founded by singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen, who had previously been the frontman of the death metal band Dominus. Wanting to combine the heaviness of metal with rockabilly and classic rock influences, Poulsen started a new project that blended these styles, creating the signature Volbeat sound. The band released their debut album, "The Strength/The Sound/The Songs," in 2005, which gained popularity in Denmark and introduced their unique fusion of heavy metal, rock and roll, and rockabilly to a growing fan base. Their follow-up album, "Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil," released in 2007, achieved even greater success, reaching number one on the Danish charts. Volbeat's international breakthrough came with their third album, "Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood" (2008), and especially their fourth album, "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven" (2010), which included hit songs like "Heaven nor Hell" and "A Warrior's Call." These releases solidified their status across Europe and North America. Over time, Volbeat has undergone several lineup changes, but Michael Poulsen has remained the creative force at the center of the band. Their fifth studio album, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" (2013), was another critical and commercial success, featuring guest appearances from artists such as King Diamond. Volbeat has continued to tour globally and release successful albums, including "Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie" (2016), "Rewind, Replay, Rebound" (2019), and "Servant of the Mind" (2021). Known for their energetic live performances and genre-blending sound, Volbeat has carved out a niche as one of the most distinctive and successful hard rock bands to come out of Denmark.
