KNEECAP
KNEECAP is an Irish hip-hop trio known for their politically charged lyrics, energetic performances, and unique blend of the Irish language with contemporary rap. Formed in West Belfast in 2017, the group consists of rappers Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and producer DJ Próvaí. The group quickly gained attention for their unapologetic commentary on issues such as Irish identity, politics, and social inequality, as well as their creative use of bilingual lyrics in both Irish (Gaeilge) and English. Their debut track “C.E.A.R.T.A.” brought them into the spotlight, and their subsequent releases have continued to challenge mainstream norms while championing Irish culture. KNEECAP is widely recognized for reinvigorating interest in the Irish language among younger audiences and fostering a sense of cultural pride. Known for their provocative music videos and outspoken political activism, the group has established a loyal fan base both in Ireland and internationally. KNEECAP’s music has sparked both acclaim and controversy, but they remain undeterred in pushing boundaries and addressing the complex political landscape of Northern Ireland. They are not only seen as artists but also as cultural figures who are reshaping how Irish youth engage with identity, language, and resistance.
