Steve Hackett
Steve Hackett is an English musician, songwriter, and producer best known as the lead guitarist of the progressive rock band Genesis during their classic era in the 1970s. Born on February 12, 1950, in London, England, Hackett joined Genesis in 1971 and contributed to some of the band's most influential albums, including *Nursery Cryme*, *Foxtrot*, *Selling England by the Pound*, and *The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway*. Hackett's innovative guitar work, particularly his use of tapping and sweep picking techniques, helped to define Genesis's sound and has influenced countless musicians in the progressive rock and metal genres. He is also known for his ability to blend classical, jazz, and world music elements into his playing. In 1977, Hackett left Genesis to pursue a solo career, beginning with his album *Voyage of the Acolyte*, which had already been released during his time with the band. His solo work demonstrated his wide-ranging musical interests, incorporating classical guitar, orchestration, and rock elements. Over the decades, Hackett has released numerous critically acclaimed solo albums, such as *Spectral Mornings*, *Defector*, and *The Night Siren*.
