Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice is an alternative rock band from London, England, formed in 2010. The group consists of Ellie Rowsell on lead vocals and guitar, Joff Oddie on guitar, Theo Ellis on bass, and Joel Amey on drums. Originally conceived as a folk duo by Rowsell and Oddie, the band later expanded both in membership and in musical style, embracing a more dynamic and genre-blending sound that includes elements of grunge, shoegaze, and indie rock. Wolf Alice gained early attention with their 2013 debut EP "Blush," followed by the more prominent "Creature Songs" in 2014. Their debut album, "My Love Is Cool," was released in 2015 to critical acclaim and featured the breakout single "Moaning Lisa Smile," which earned them a Grammy nomination. The album demonstrated their range, from explosive rock anthems to dreamy ballads, solidifying their reputation as one of the UK's most promising new acts. Their second album, "Visions of a Life," arrived in 2017 and further showcased their ability to shift stylistically, incorporating heavier guitar riffs alongside introspective lyrics. The album won the 2018 Mercury Prize, placing them firmly in the spotlight of the British music scene. In 2021, Wolf Alice released their third album, "Blue Weekend," which received widespread praise for its emotional depth, musical maturity, and sonic ambition. The album was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and won Best Group at the BRIT Awards in 2022. With a reputation for compelling live performances and ever-evolving musical exploration, Wolf Alice has become one of the defining bands of their generation, continually pushing the boundaries of alternative rock.
