Pendulum
Pendulum is an Australian electronic rock band that originated in Perth in 2002, founded by Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen, and Paul "El Hornet" Harding. Known for blending elements of drum and bass, rock, and electronic music, Pendulum rapidly gained recognition in the mid-2000s for their unique sound and energetic performances. Their debut album *Hold Your Colour*, released in 2005, became a major success within the drum and bass scene, featuring popular tracks such as "Slam" and "Tarantula." The album's crossover appeal helped bring the genre to a broader audience. In 2008, the band released their second album, *In Silico*, which marked a departure from their earlier style, incorporating more rock and electronic influences. This shift continued with their third studio album, *Immersion*, released in 2010, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. Songs like "Watercolour" and "Witchcraft" became staples in the electronic music scene. Pendulum went on hiatus in 2012, with Swire and McGrillen focusing on their side project, Knife Party. However, they returned in 2016 for live performances and later released new music, including the *Elemental* EP in 2021. Throughout their career, Pendulum has been praised for their innovative fusion of genres and high-energy live shows, securing their place as pioneers in modern electronic and rock music crossover.
