Skepta, born Joseph Junior Adenuga on September 19, 1982, in Tottenham, North London, is a British rapper, songwriter, and record producer known for his influential role in the grime music scene. The son of Nigerian immigrants, Skepta began his musical career as a DJ before transitioning into MCing, becoming one of the founding members of the grime collective Boy Better Know alongside his brother Jme. Skepta rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with his energetic and raw lyrical style, contributing significantly to the development and mainstream acceptance of grime music in the UK and beyond.
