Far East Movement
Far East Movement is an American hip hop and electronic music group based in Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 2003 and originally consisted of Kev Nish (Kevin Nishimura), Prohgress (James Roh), J-Splif (Jae Choung), and DJ Virman (Virman Coquia). Known for blending elements of hip hop, pop, electro, and EDM, Far East Movement rose to international fame with their 2010 hit single "Like a G6," which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The group first gained attention in the Los Angeles club scene and earned early recognition with songs featured in films such as "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift." Their mixtapes and performances helped build a diverse fan base, leading to a record deal with major labels like Cherrytree Records and Interscope. Following "Like a G6," Far East Movement continued to release successful tracks including "Rocketeer" featuring Ryan Tedder and "Turn Up the Love" featuring Cover Drive. Their music is known for its high-energy beats and cross-cultural appeal, with strong influences from pop culture and the Asian-American experience. Throughout their career, Far East Movement has collaborated with a variety of artists including Snoop Dogg, Marshmello, and BTS. They also founded Transparent Arts, a management and record label dedicated to supporting Asian-American artists and promoting global music collaboration.
