Starsailor

Starsailor is an English alternative rock band formed in Chorley, Lancashire in 2000. The band consists of James Walsh on vocals and guitar, James Stelfox on bass, Ben Byrne on drums, and Barry Westhead on keyboards. They quickly gained attention for their emotive sound and introspective lyrics, drawing comparisons to bands like Coldplay and Travis during the post-Britpop era. Starsailor burst onto the music scene with their debut album Love Is Here in 2001, which received critical acclaim and commercial success. The album featured hit singles such as "Alcoholic" and "Good Souls," showcasing Walsh's haunting vocals and the band's melodic instrumentation. Their follow-up album Silence Is Easy was released in 2003 and included the title track, which became one of their biggest hits. The album marked a collaboration with famed producer Phil Spector. They continued to release music throughout the 2000s, with albums including On the Outside in 2005 and All the Plans in 2009. Despite changes in the music industry and evolving trends, Starsailor maintained a loyal fan base and a reputation for passionate live performances. After a brief hiatus, the band reunited in 2014 and released the album All This Life in 2017. Known for their emotive songwriting and heartfelt delivery, Starsailor remains a defining act of early 2000s British rock and continues to tour and release music while staying true to their roots.
