Sub Focus, whose real name is Nick Douwma, is a British electronic music producer and DJ known for his work in drum and bass as well as his ventures into other genres like dubstep, house, and breakbeat. Born in Guildford, Surrey, England, he began releasing music in the early 2000s and quickly gained attention for his innovative production style and high-energy tracks. Sub Focus first signed with RAM Records, the influential drum and bass label founded by Andy C, and released a string of successful singles that helped cement his reputation in the UK's drum and bass scene. His self-titled debut album, released in 2009, showcased his diverse approach to electronic music and included tracks that crossed over into the mainstream, earning him wider recognition. In 2013, Sub Focus released his second album, "Torus," which featured a mix of drum and bass, house, and dubstep influences and included collaborations with artists such as Alpines and Kele Okereke. The album produced several hit singles, and Sub Focus became a regular fixture at major music festivals and clubs around the world. Known for his dynamic DJ sets and high-production live shows, Sub Focus has continued to evolve as an artist, collaborating with other producers and vocalists including Wilkinson, Dimension, and Rudimental. He remains a key figure in the UK electronic music scene, consistently pushing the boundaries of his genre.
