Alter Bridge is an American rock band formed in Orlando, Florida, in 2004. The band was created by former Creed members guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips, and bassist Brian Marshall, who joined forces with vocalist and rhythm guitarist Myles Kennedy, previously of The Mayfield Four. Seeking a fresh start and a heavier, more melodic sound, the group named themselves after a bridge in Detroit, Michigan—Alter Road—which Tremonti used to cross in his childhood. Their debut album, *One Day Remains*, was released in 2004 and achieved commercial success, reaching gold status in the United States. The album featured the hit single "Open Your Eyes," which helped establish the band's signature blend of hard rock and alternative metal. In 2007, they released their second album, *Blackbird*, which received critical acclaim for its more complex arrangements and emotionally resonant songwriting. The title track, "Blackbird," has been widely praised and remains one of their most celebrated songs. In the years that followed, Alter Bridge continued to build a loyal fan base with albums including *AB III* (2010), *Fortress* (2013), *The Last Hero* (2016), and *Walk the Sky* (2019). Their music often features soaring vocals, intricate guitar work, and themes of perseverance and self-empowerment. Known for their dynamic live performances, Alter Bridge has toured extensively across North America, Europe, and other parts of the world. Alongside his work with Alter Bridge, Myles Kennedy has also collaborated with Slash, while Mark Tremonti has pursued a successful solo career with his band Tremonti. Despite their various side projects, the members remain committed to Alter Bridge, consistently returning to the studio and stage with new material. Widely respected for their musicianship and dedication to their craft, Alter Bridge has carved out a distinct place in modern rock, blending heavy riffs with melodic sensibilities and powerful lyrical content.
