Cast is a British rock band formed in Liverpool in 1992 by John Power, the former bassist of The La's. Known for their melodic songwriting and classic Britpop sound, Cast emerged during the mid-1990s as one of the prominent bands of the Britpop movement. John Power formed the band after leaving The La's, seeking a more guitar-driven and upbeat sound. The original lineup included Power on vocals and guitar, Peter Wilkinson on bass, Liam Tyson on lead guitar, and Keith O’Neill on drums. Their music drew influences from 1960s rock, particularly The Beatles, as well as contemporary acts like Oasis and Blur. Cast’s debut album, *All Change*, was released in 1995 and became Polydor’s fastest-selling debut album at the time. It featured hit singles like "Alright" and "Walkaway," which helped the band gain widespread popularity. The success of their debut was followed by *Mother Nature Calls* in 1997, showcasing a slightly more mature sound and spawning hits such as "Free Me" and "Guiding Star." The band released two more albums, *Magic Hour* in 1999 and *Beetroot* in 2001. However, by the early 2000s, their popularity waned, and the band officially split in 2001. After several years pursuing individual projects, Cast reunited in 2010 and began performing live again. Their reunion saw the release of new material including the albums *Troubled Times* in 2012 and *Kicking Up the Dust* in 2017. Cast is celebrated for their tuneful anthems, energetic performances, and contributions to the Britpop era, maintaining a loyal fan base and continued presence on the UK live circuit.
