The Norwegian indie duo bring their warm melancholic sound to LVLS, Hackney, London, 7:30, on November 8th. Celebrating the release of their second full Album AC II: Desert Sky which comes out the day before on Friday 7th Nov.
We’re hoping for something great from the album, and if the singles so far released from it in the last few months are anything to go by we’re in for a real treat. Anyone who has heard the most recent release, ‘Cold July’, or ‘Desert’ will be ready for more. Not sure which is my favorite yet, it's weird but Desert conjures up for me a lonely cowboy (or girl) riding in cold weather though the open Norwegian countryside, past lakes and mountains, not 100% sure where she is going. I love the brass part at the very end. In ‘Cold July’ Karoline embodies a 15 year old girl singing “Kids are marching in the streets, cause your pulling us closer to the end, and oh my god, are you leaving us here to die”. It sounds beautiful the way she sings it but the lyrics are really haunting and you can hear the fears of the girl realising that nothing is being done. It's an environmental protest song that makes you feel a bit helpless, but in a beautiful melancholic way. It looks like the album will be 12 tracks and released on ChoVan records. It will be available on Spotify amongst other places. We're hoping to hear more at the gig on Saturday. I think tickets are still available, but if you can't make it we will be reviewing the performance to give a little flavour of it.
