Celebrating 35 years since the much loved album Boomania

There was a lot of love in the room for a slightly nervous looking Betty Boo (real name Allison Clarkson) She was there to celebrate 35 years since her hit Album Boomania, released in September 1990. Her backing singer and hype woman, and honorary Boo-ette came out to introduce her and get the crowd going. With just the two singers on stage (no band) they ran through renditions of the hits from the Boomanaia album. What was apparent was that she's still a great singer and the 3 or 4 hits from the time brought back many memories for the audience, some who were there back in the day, and some newer listeners, I think she may have a bit of a gay following too, although that could just be coincidence. Where are you Baby, great song, performed well, I had forgotten though how long the outro’s were on a lot of the songs back then. ‘Where are you Baby? We used to have so much fun you drive me crazy …… x20! The colab song with beatmasters ‘ Hey DJ, I cant dance to that music your playing’ was one of the best on the night, it's probably the one that has most stood the test of time. Everyone seemed to love it. ‘Doin’ the do’, so good they played it twice. Once mid set and once for the encore, I guess that the song that a lot of people were there for so we got value for money at least. It is funny hearing her now, spouting the lyrics in the rapped verses, with the attitude of an unstoppable teenager who knows her worth. She’s still got it! For the last song she had one up her sleeve, ‘Pure and SImple’ the hit by Hearsay and written, or co-written by Betty Boo. Classic 90’s Pop, I loved it!
