Future stadium fillers Mortal Theory making an understated start on TikTok.

They just popped up on our tiktok feed doing a version of Creep by Radiohead. The acoustics were terrible as they looked like they were on the bottom floor of a multistory car park with occasional traffic noise as cars went past outside. The acoustic guitar and acoustic bass sounded awful, as if played by 2 junior school kids who were just getting started. The singer is striking though, tall and carrying a lot of weight, but looking confident with it.. Confident enough to be wearing an open trench coat with nothing underneath apart from a couple of necklaces. You notice his voice first, you can tell he is holding back a bit but you can hear the quality and potential to let rip and really go for it. Although it's deliberately understated. I liked it all enough to watch it a second and third time and you start to realise the 2 guitar players are playing perfectly in time with all the right dynamics. They were deliberately trying to make it sound very sketchy and possibly understated in order for the voice to stand out a little, or just to try to capture a little grunge feeling. They have a a few songs on tiktok and youtube, a few more covers inc Alice in Chains Nutshell, and 2 or 3 of their own in including Whatever and Come Tomorrow which both sound like they could be in the Pearl Jam back catalogue. There is nothing on Spotify yet but from what I’ve heard they have been in the studio and there is an album on the way. I think it's going to be big, I can't wait. Check them out now on TikTok or wait and I’m sure they will be inescapable in a few months.
