Watching frontman Nathan, of Garage Flower, is like watching a bomb go off! The onstage energy is absolutely electric.

Garage Flower

This was our first visit to Headrow House in Leeds, it's a decent venue spread over three or so levels, with a beer hall, a gig space for around 200 people, and a rooftop terrace. The place looks smart and well put together. Apparently it used to be called ‘Big Lils’ with a nightclub upstairs that you could get into if you couldn’t get in anywhere else. There were a couple of support bands, unfortunately we missed the first one but the second were a bigger band than I expected and had a bit of a following. ‘Bayboards’ the singer looks like ‘Howard Jones’, electro pop singer from the early 80s, and the bassist and guitarist would not have looked out of place in ‘Frankie goes to Hollywood’. They were pretty good but towards the end I just wanted them to f*ck off so we could get a taste of the raw power of Garage Flower. A quick soundcheck from the band and they were off ripping though phaser filled guitar walls of sound on their first few tracks. There's a definite Liam Galagher comparison to be made with the singer, although he doesn’t look or really sound like him, there's similarities in his delivery and his constantly ‘redlining’ vocals. They delivered a rip roaring set of slightly baggy, slightly shoe gaze, but all full on rock and roll set. There’s some really cool sounding songs that I want to hear again soon didn’t catch all the names but there’s one described as being about getting leathered in the summer, which we can probably all relate to, Green eyed chemistry, something about a Live lounge, one called Bottom I think, and Farewell - with a great breakdown and crash back in in the middle. I’m really hoping they release something soon and that it sounds like they do live. They also announced they are opening for 2 Door Cinema Club next year at a huge London show. We’re really expecting big things from this band over the next year or 2, this much raw energy can't be held back for long.
